Injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) is a type of temporary dermal filler. Hyaluronic acid is found naturally through out the body, with the highest concentrations in the joints, eyes, and skin.
In the skin hyaluronic acid attracts water, which allows the skin to become more hydrated. As we age, the fat, muscles, bone, and skin in our face begins to thin. This loss of volume leads to either a sunken or sagging appearance of the face, fine lines, wrinkles, folds, and thin lips. Injectable HA is used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, facial folds, and to create structure, framework, and volume to the face and lips. The effects of injectable hyaluronic acid are seen immediately.
A full facial assessment at consultation will help guide your treatment plan. In many cases, "tweakments" to multiple ares of the face allow for a restored, beautiful appearance.
The perfect cheek is blended, seamless & believable - the "ogee curve". In males, cheeks tend to have sharper/lower angles & less of an "S" curve.
As we age we can often notice our cheeks and lateral face start to lose volume.
This can be thought of like a balloon that slowly deflates.
Dermal fillers in this area helps restore curvature and definition, as well as help to decrease lines, wrinkles, and light shadowing. Cheek support can also help soften the appearance of the nasolabial folds (these fat pads do not lose volume as we age).
It is important to remember natural asymmetry (is normal) and may not be fully perfected between the left and right side of the face. However, balance and harmony can be achieved.
Ness will assess your individual expression and choose a treatment technique that's right for you.
If you are considering tear trough filler, Vanessa may recommend cheek/midface filler first- as this often supports the under-eye area.
Longevity: 18-24 months
"Tear Trough" dermal fillers target the hollows that appear under the eyes & tend to make us appear more tired than we are.
Some individuals will not be suitable for this treatment due to ageing changes to the orbital ligment.
Any underage puffiness or allergies may prevent you from having desired results with tear trough filler and Ness may advise not to proceed. Alternative treatments may be discussed to improve the appearance of your under-eye area during your consultation. Some of these alternative could include Mono threads, and mesotherapy- a series of treatments is usually required for long term results.
Due to the hydrophilic nature of dermal filler, it attracts water to the area. This means that this delicate area must be under-treated on the day, to allow for potential expansion (almost like letting a loaf of bread rise).
A second appointment may be required 4 weeks later to add additional volume if assessment dictates it.
Please note that cheek volume goes hand-in-hand to treating this area and may first be required before the under-eyes can be filled.
Longevity: approx 9-12 months
Dermal filler placed deep in the skin to help build and reinforce bony structure is a great solution to support the lower face. Filler can be injected in the angle of the jaw to elongate the jawline itself, and give a more defined look. Jawline filler may also be injected between the jawline and the chin to hide the appearance of jowls.
Men tend to prefer a sharper angle of the jaw, whilst most women like to achieve soft angles. Regardless of gender, immediate lifting and tightening effects can commonly be seen in this area of the face, improving your overall profile appearance.
Your natural bone structure plays a significant role in assessment, there may be cases where chin enhancement is combined with a jawline treatment to create structural balance.
Your bite muscle and dentistry also contribute to your lower face appearance.
Longevity: 18-24 months
It is often one of the most transformational treatments, as it has an effect on dimension, depth, and facial ratio, especially when combined with jawline filler. Chin filler is placed deep to emulate bone and can often enhance your entire lower face appearance.
Chin filler may be discussed as pat of your lip consultation, as it is important to assess your surrounding tissue to ensure treatments blend and respect your natural features.
Ness will also assess your mentalist (chin) muscles, and discuss how this can impact your results.
Jowls are the predominant indication of lower face ageing, sometimes targeting the reduction in jowls can actually in effect treat the chin without treating it at all!
Longevity: approx 18-24 months
It is only natural to have pride in your lips- they are one of the main focal points on our face. Lip filler, when done with respect to your natural lip shape, size, and facial structure, gives a hydrated, plump, and balanced top and bottom lip from every angle!
Full, well defined lips are a key sign of youth. As we age our top lip elongates, and we lose hydration, volume and definition. Improving your pout may only require a small amount of filler, or it may take a few sessions with top ups from 6-12 months.
No duck faces treatments available! Ness will ensure to give your professional guidance regarding your lip filler journey. This may involve dissolving previous work and recreating your ideal lip aesthetic.
The "house" of your lips (tissue around your lips)- called the peri-oral area may require treatment in conjunction with your lip filler to achieve a complete look.
There are pre-treatment instructions specific to lip filler, please ensure to follow instructions to decrease downtime, and any potential side effects.
Longevity approx 9-12 months
